Student-led Private Lessons
Student-led privates are privates led by our pre-professional ballet students. The student-led privates program gives students in our Fun & Foundations B/C, and company programs an opportunity to receive helpful corrections that teachers may not always see in a group setting. Because the privates are led by student teachers, the price is less than what would be paid to fully-trained instructors. This program also provides our pre-professional students with valuable teacher training and helps them pay for their own tuition, which is higher due to the many hours they spend in the studio for their advanced training.
Purposes for privates include the following....
Ballet Improvement:
Students who want to improve faster may do so by taking student-teacher-led privates. They will work on a variation or dance taught to them by the student teacher. The student teacher will instruct them on how to improve their technique as they prepare the dance. Students in levels one and two may work toward and perform a duet with their student teachers at both the Christmas privates recital and the spring conference. Students in level 3 may perform a solo taught to them by their student teacher.
Olympic testing privates:
Students in levels 1-3 who are testing in silver for their spring testing are required to perform a duet for the spring conference--which will be performed with their student teacher. Students earning gold need to perform a solo for the spring conference. The solo or duet is taught to them by their student teacher. The student teacher will instruct them on how to improve their technique as they prepare the solo or duet. Parents may register their child for either seven privates, spread out during the school year, or weekly privates. (Those in weekly privates will learn a dance for both the Christmas privates recital and the spring conference.)
All students registered in the student privates program must also be simultaneously participating in Fun Foundations, Musical Theater Dance, or Ballet 1-3.
