DESCRIPTION OF CLASSES AT REJOICE
PLEASE NOTE: All classes with children 6+ start with a short Bible devotion and prayer. Please make sure you, as a parent, are comfortable with this before enrolling your child in our classes.
Wiggles & Worship (ages 3-5)
An introductory, ballet class using Christian music, props like tambourines and streamers, and fun dances to teach basic ballet terminology and make a young student comfortable in a ballet class atmosphere. Students will end the class with a little tumbling as well. The dancers in this class will
prepare a dance for our seasonal production. Participation in the performance is optional.
Foundations Ballet Technique and Rehearsal (Ages 9-12)
A company class for students who have been accepted into our classical ballet program. Students learn a set higher beginning/lower intermediate syllabus and choreography for our fall or spring production. (Please see further information under the tab, Rejoice! Children's Ballet Theater Company Level Descriptions).
Intermediate Ballet Technique and Rehearsal (Ages 10-14)
A company class for students who have been accepted into our classical ballet program. Students learn a set intermediate syllabus and choreography for our fall or spring production. (Please see further information under the tab, Rejoice! Children's Ballet Theater Company Level Descriptions).
Advanced Ballet Technique (Ages 12+)
A company class for students who have been accepted into our classical ballet program. Students learn the intermediate syllabus and choreography plus a set advanced syllabus and choreography during private lessons.
Beginning Pointe
Open to dancers who have at least a high Foundations level ability and who have been invited to start pointe or are in their first year of pointe. (This class or intermediate pointe is required for those on our Intermediate RCBT team).
Intermediate Pointe/Open Ballet (ages 9+)
Open to dancers who have at least a high Foundations level ability and who have been invited to pointe. (This class is required for those on our Intermediate RCBT team).
Preteen/Teen Ballet (Beg./Low Int.) for Musical Theater Dancers
(ages 12+; younger children by invitation or permission only)
Taught at a lower intermediate level. All female senior musical theater dancers are required to take this class.
Stretching/Acro./Conditioning (Ages 6+)
For students who wish to become stronger and more flexible for ballet. Tumbling tricks are also taught to provide skills that are sometimes used in choreography for more advanced contemporary works/story ballets.
Vocal Technique (Ages 8+)
For students who wish to become more skilled in singing. Students will work on a few musical theater pieces from our semester's theater production. They will also learn and perform a choral piece for this production.
