Short-term camps to help students keep up their skills and friendships at Rejoice while still giving them plenty of time to rest and have fun with their families

Students will learn a shorter, Christian version of Sound of Music. They will attend an audition ahead of time for which they will be expected to perform a cold read and a selected song. ($25 non-refundable deposit due before the audition)

When Is It?

Dancers, ages 3-5
What will students do?
Students will learn to praise the Lord through ballet! Besides dance, students will also enjoy tumbling, crafts, and games. They will participate in a little end-of-camp studio recital in which the students will perform dance pieces for the parents.

When Is It?

What will students do?

AUGUST 2 (MIXED WITH OLDER PERFORMANCE CAMP): at the studio--1:00-2:15; at Ashley Rehabilitation Center in Rogers--2:30-4:15

What will the students do during the camp?

Day 3: Rehearse learned choreography from 1:15-2:15. At 2:15, parents drive their students to Ashley Rehabilitation Center to rehearse. Students will rehearse from 2:45-3:20 and perform and spend time with the residents until around 4:15. Parents pick up their students from the nursing home afterward.

The students in this piece will prepare a piece that will be performed in a Spring 2024 competition PLUS enjoy a time of stretching/tumbling/and conditioning with the lower competition camp girls. Students will also share this piece with elderly folks at a local nursing home.

June 24-27, 9:00 am-1:00 pm (choreography and then stretching with the lower competition girls)
August 1, 2:10-3:30 (mixed with Upper Competition Camp)
August 2, 11:45-1:00 (mixed with Upper Competition Camp) AND 1:30-2:15, early afternoon practice at the studio with other outreach camp dancers (exact times TBD) and rehearsal/performance at Ashley Rehabilitation Center in Rogers--2:30-4:15.

What will the students do during the camp?
Prepare choreography for the nursing home outreach and the Spring 2024 competition PLUS have a time of stretching/tumbling/conditioning with the Upper Competition camp on the first five days. On the last two days, the lower and upper competition camps will join together to have two final practices. On the last day, students will also attend a dress rehearsal and then perform at the Ashley Rehabilitation Center.

The students in this piece will prepare a piece that will be performed in a Spring 2024 competition. Students will also share this piece with elderly folks at a local nursing home. (NOTE: IF THE CDC COVID RATES ARE HIGH, those entering the nursing home will be required to wear masks both upon entry and when getting up close with the residents. Dancers would not be required to wear masks while dancing.)

June 25, June 26 (10:00-11:30); July 8, July 12 (1:00-2:30 pm)

DRAMA CAMP
Students will use their imagination to ground themselves in character, expanding their senses while using space and digging deep into the circumstances that the character encounters. Students will learn to build their work from the inside out by asking about a character's Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How. They will learn to seek out their truest expression, using their sharpened tools - face, body, and voice to convey their passions, all in a God-honoring context.
When Is It?
June 26-June 30, 4:00-6:30
Who Is it for?
All company members. Musical theater dance students are especially encouraged to participate.
What will students do?
They will be taught storytelling and grow into soliloquies, duos, and small group impromptu scenes they design themselves. The camp will end with a studio performance opportunity that demonstrates the techniques they have been working on.

SUMMER STUDENT-LED SEMI-PRIVATES AND PRIVATES
Ballet 4 students will teach technique and a short dance 1-3 students at a time. (Students who are currently taking student-led privates may be able to continue with their current teacher).
When Is It?
Upon student's registration, the director will call the parents to set up five half-hour appointments that a student-teacher can teach. The student should also be available for July 28, afternoon time rehearsal and performance. (Students not available for the July 28 performance may still participate).

Students will learn technique and also a duet that will be performed alongside their student-teacher at the studio on July 28--and then perform that same dance at Ashley Rehabilitation Center later that day.
