SPEND THE NIGHT OPTION: We do have a spend-the-night option on August 28 for students ages 8 and up (or for students ages 6 and up who would like to have a parent of the same gender supervise them) who have worked with us or those who can be recommended by families who have worked with us. The spend-the-night option is $50 extra. ($55 extra)
DESCRIPTION: A ballet camp that will include rehearsal time and lots of fun time at New Life Ranch's water front (zip lines, slides, inflatables), pool with water slides, and large bouncing area. Campers who spend the night will also get to enjoy a bonfire and s'mores and a relaxing and fun time together. All participants will learn and perform a group exhibition dance. Students may also submit a solo or duet (see categories below) for exhibition or competition at no extra cost.

REJOICE! CHRISTIAN DANCE COMPETITION (RCDC) SOLO AND DUET
RULES AND EXPLANATION OF PRODUCTS/SERVICES OFFERED
The Rejoice! Christian Dance Competition is a family-friendly dance competition with a classical base. Our aim is to discover and reward the best and brightest dancers of the local area and encourage them to use their dance skills in a distinguished and excellent way both now and in their possible future careers.
SOLO OPTIONS:
1) SOLO VARIATION: This is our classical ballet option. Dancers should adhere to the theme, using costume, and/or small set pieces and props as needed to assist in telling at least a portion of a popular fairy tale
2) SOLO OR DUET CONTEMPORARY: This is our classical contemporary (not pop contemporary/lyrical) option. All entries should have a strong ballet base. (This is a family-friendly event. Dancers will be docked points for using even remotely suggestive movements and/or revealing costumes). Though this is category is definitely contemporary, RCDC seeks to award dancers in this category who have a strong balletic base and hold to distinguished and excellent standards.
Unless Rejoice! Ballet cannot for some reason deliver services as described on this page, refunds will not be granted.
MUSIC SELECTION:
Classical variation: Selection should be between the length of 1:00 and 3:00 minutes. Dancers are encouraged (for the sake of ease) but not required to perform standard classical variations modified to fit the dancer’s technical level. (Check YAGP Youtube pre-competitive and junior variations for modified variations performed by young people). Here are some examples of popular variations that contestants may choose:

CONTEMPORARY: Dancers must use a contemporary Christian or instrumental contemporary piece between 1:30-2:30 minutes in length.
All dancers should submit their music selections via an email attachment. All music should be edited and sent to us in the exact way it will be performed. Please be aware that the music selection may be rejected, so dancers should turn in their selection before learning the choreography.
COSTUMING:
Dancers will not be judged on the quality of costuming, though modesty and use of the costume to fit with the dance performed will be evaluated. No midriffs or revealed cleavage. Derrieres should be sufficiently covered. Dancers should get costume selection approved at least two weeks before the event. , please write us at [email protected].
PROPS OR SMALL SET PIECES:
For FAIRY TALES, dancers are encouraged to use a prop and/or small set piece. For instance, a “Cinderella” themed variation might incorporate a shoe or a broom, or even a cutout of a pumpkin carriage! For CONTEMPORARY, dancers may also incorporate these elements. All props and set pieces must be cleared at the time of registration. For questions and/or for clearing the use of particular props and/or set pieces, write us at [email protected].
VIDEO SALES: We hope to provide DVD copies of the entire competition for $10 each after the competition. (Our aim would be to create the video and make it available at the studio within two weeks after the competition.)
JUDGING: Rejoice! Ballet staff will judge the event this year.
PREPARATION: Dancers are welcome to choreograph their own pieces or have a teacher from their local studio to prepare solos for them. Rejoice! Ballet Academy choreographers are also available to offer private lessons at their Bentonville studio (at 1140 N. Walton Blvd.) to help dancers prepare for the competition. Students who are doing their own pieces must submit their choreography to be accepted by the Rejoice! Ballet Academy staff. Staff members may reject or require adjustment to choreography, costuming, or music. Staff members working on pieces will not be involved in the judging process. LIABILITY/PHOTO-MEDIA RELEASE FORM: Neither Rejoice! Ballet or New Life Ranch will be held liable for injuries that may be incurred at the competition. All parents of dancers must sign a liability/photo-media release form that will be supplied at the dancer’s sign-in time. By registering, dancers agree to be video-taped/photographed while at the competition for our media advertising and products sold.
